Building Materials Workshop (BMW, Building Materials Workshop) is organized by University of Lorraine (France) and University of Bari (Italy), Chang'an University (China), Southern University of Science and Technology (China). University of California, Los Angeles (USA), University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), Missouri University of Science and Technology (USA), Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Mexico), Hohai University (China), Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China), Tongji University (China), Sichuan University (China), Shanghai University (China), and other international universities and research institutes jointly launched it to build a cutting-edge academic exchange platform in the field of engineering materials, promote the collision of scientific ideas, and achieve the common development of disciplines and professional technologies.
In 2023, the 1st BMW workshop (referred to as: BMW2023) was in Xi’an China.
In 2024 the 2nd BMW workshop (referred to as: BMW2024) was in Giovinazzo, Italy.
In 2025, the 3rd BMW workshop (referred to as: BMW2025) will be held in Cancun on 17-22 August.
The topic of this conference is Advances in Sustainable Cements and Durable Construction Materials: Reducing Environmental Impact through Innovation.
The objective of BMW2025 is to address the environmental challenges associated with Portland cement production, with a particular focus on its significant contribution to CO2 emissions, which account for 7-8% of global emissions. As global demand for cement continues to rise, the necessity for sustainable alternatives is becoming increasingly apparent. The BMW2025will highlight recent advances in the development of low-energy cements, engineering and other supplementary cementitious materials, alkali-activated materials, and other sustainable materials designed to reduce the environmental impact of traditional cement production. In addition, organizers also welcome durability studies of existing as well as novel, sustainable materials. Experts academic and industrial backgrounds will present pioneering research, fostering collaboration to accelerate the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies in construction. The BMW2025 aims to facilitate the advancement of innovative approaches and sustainable practices in infrastructure development, thereby ensuring that environmental sustainability is not compromised.
